a nice dinner (nice doesn't necessarily mean expensive, but should include good wine)
a brightly-coloured nalgene bottle
some mind-blowing jazz recording
a spontaneous composition
a fruit pie
good chocolate
happy dancey fun time

(not all of the above items are necessary for a successful birthday experience - only the first two, really. opera night will happen, as tickets have been purchased for the new Adams opera in San Fran. woo!)

incidentally, we shall be having happy dancing fun time on the evening of October the eighth at our east-side Santa Cruz abode. Please come if you can! Bring instruments and perhaps something edible to share - email me for directions. Really, I'd like to see you (yes you!) there, even if you think I'm ignoring you. I'm not, really.

today I found my center and that is where I sent my breath, my action. that spot right before I get impatient with myself, with time, that is where I want to be. Between inaction and frenetic energy, between sense of identity and release of self, behind mind-aware and above muscle knowledge, there is the fluidity of breath, there is my potential of constant creation, running along my spine.
